Training

DMC is able to provide flying training for fixed wing planes for people without any previous experience and may not even own their own model. This includes explanation of regulation, safety, how the model is set up and controlled, along with flying practice. The flying practice is dependent on experience but for a beginner would be via a buddy box arrangement effectively providing twin controls with the instructor. This allows the instructor to take control if the need arises, reducing the risk of crashes allowing the pupil to concentrate on flying exercises.

We also recommend use of a simulator to gain ‘stick time’ between actual flying sessions and in periods of bad weather.

Once a reasonable level of proficiency has been achieved it is expected that the pupil will invest in their own aircraft. At this point help and advice will be available to identify a suitable model for their needs bearing in mind budget constraints.

Currently DMC has a proficiency examiner to give advice and examine those wanting to gain their A certificate.

In addition 'Have a go' sessions are available before joining, for anyone interested in model flying but not sure if it is for them.
